He wants expedited review of “disturbing trend.”
Attorney General Merrick Garland ordered Justice Department employees to give priority to investigating what he called “the disturbing trend in reports of violence against members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.”
His memo ordered a 30-day “expedited review to determine how the department can deploy all the tools at its disposal in support of this effort.” The directive comes amid an outbreak of violence against Asian Americans.
This is the first major public action that the attorney general has taken since becoming the nation’s top law enforcement officer nearly three weeks ago.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Attorney General Garland and the rest of the Justice Department to uphold the law and the Constitution.
- For Americans of every diverse group to come together in personal dignity and with respect for one another.
